The Curtis Priem Quantum Constellation
The Curtis Priem Quantum Constellation is a groundbreaking research center at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York that houses the world's first university campus IBM Quantum Computer. It is the latest achievement in the long-standing collaboration between RPI and IBM to advance scholarship and technology, and underscores RPI's vision to "enhance the educational experiences and research capabilities of students and researchers at RPI and other institutions, propel the Capital Region into a top location for talent, and accelerate New York's growth as a technology epicenter."
Curtis Priem, RPI Class of 1982 and vice chair of the RPI Board of Trustees reflected, "As an RPI graduate and a trustee deeply invested in RPI's mission and future, partnering with IBM to introduce quantum computing on our campus was a natural step forward… RPI's commitment to providing students with access to cutting-edge tools and ubiquitous computing is paramount, and integrating an IBM Quantum System One helps ensure we're doing are part to develop tomorrow's quantum workforce."
Quantum computers harness the laws of quantum mechanics to process information and may solve problems that are too complex for classical supercomputers, such as advancements in computational science research, artificial intelligence, and materials.
